Every year, it is estimated that as many as 1 billion birds are killed when they collide with objects. The most common object? Glass in buildings with large amounts of glass surfaces. The birds that are dying at a rapid clip are ones we really need to keep our ecosystems balanced: insect-eating and woodland-dwelling migratory birds.

There are many DIY things you can do in a pinch to stop birds from colliding with your home pr commercial windows but none work very well. The most effective strategy is, by far, to have fritted window film applied to your windows. This nearly invisible film stops birds from flying into windows because it has a pattern that is visible to birds embedded in it. This means rather than fly through the window, our avian friends fly around it! This is a great solution for residential properties and even better for commercial investors. In the long run, a good reason to do it is to prevent damage to your building and our environment as a whole. But another really good reason to do it is for the birds. They are a lovely part of our world and need humans to adapt our behavior ever so slightly to keep them soaring through the sky!
