Glare Reduction Window Film Case Study: Why Window Film Makes Sense For Fort Collins Hotels

A hotel in Colorado needed to find a solution for intense glare, UV radiation and solar heat gain on their towering convention center windows. The area beneath these windows was central to their event center but remained empty from about 2 pm to sunset because of the heat and glare. The hotel wanted the area to be used and enjoyed by its patrons as intended but was unsure of how to fix the issues with the heat and glare. The windows also faced westward with lovely mountain views that the hotel did not want to obscure. Which made the problem that much harder to solve.
The Solution: Llumar Window Film For Hotel Windows
After consulting with our hotel clients to find out precisely what was needed in a window film and their goals for the window’s appearance, we decided to install samples of some of our best solar control films. These various spectrally selective films all worked great on heat and UV radiation but their appearances varied. For this particular hotel, the size of its windows, the orientation of its windows and their desire aesthetic–the right choice was Llumar DRN-35.
The Result: UV Protection and More
Choosing the Llumar DRN-35 allowed the hotel windows to let in enough natural light to keep the expansive area well-lit while keeping enough clarity on the windows for guests to enjoy the views. The UV blocking it provided protected some of their very beautiful and very expensive interiors. Lastly, the film evened out temperatures in the space, which was empty before but is now one of the most popular places for patrons to sit and enjoy the lovely Colorado ambiance.
